Tuesday nights cardmaking classes have begun....

Last night we had the first of Joy's cardmaking Tuesday nights - we are back next Tuesday with mulled wine, and then in the new year, we will have a cardmaking class on the first Tuesday of each month (except January when its the second Tuesday -sorry to be confusing!!)

So this card was made with one of the bubble stamps from Woodware, letters cut out on the Cricut, and papers from the Crate Paper Toy Box range. The snowflake was die-cut and we used Candi to embellish the card. I love it!

Today's Santa paper plate kids craft class

We had a great morning with Aimee this morning, making these fab Santa paper plate decorations... the girls cut out all the paper chains, stapled them to the paper plates, then cut out santa hats in red paper and stuck down cotton wool for the bobbles, and for Santa's beard to hide the staples. Full house and top marks for behaviour - Aimee and I could have heard a pin drop and we had nine children aged 4-7!!

today we are using my favourite new stamp from Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous - 'every possibility begins with the courage to imagine' - the first is perfect pearl mist sprayed on black bazzill, and the stamp embossed in white with three flowers from Papermania Clear Stamps - Doodles. the second is with our own lacy ribbon, Maria's white buttons, and two butterflies from the papermania back to basics chipboard butterflies & dragonflies. I got a little play with our new Grand Calibur machine today from Spellbinders - its VERY easy to use - very clear instructions - v.smooth roll through for the plates - anyone who is coming down on Saturday to crop is very welcome to try it out. So far I have the circles and the scallop circles dies for it.... plus we will ask Rhonda to use it in her demo ( on Saturday 5th March 10am to 1pm )

Todays class is using our Woodware Clear Magic Gingerbread collection again and also the Martha Stewart edge punches - this one is using the double loops punch but we are also using the vintage lace edge punch around the page set..... stamped with watermark and embossed, then coloured in with distress inks and covered with glossy accents

Today I braved my styrofoam box and created a little christmas tree - used my 2" circle punch to punch out circles from Fancy Pants Design christmas papers and stuck them down on my styrofoam cone with doublesided tape - the top was made from twisting one circle round into a little cone and sticking it down... and then I put some little silver and white brads in to finish it off....

Birthday Card Book

I decided to use this month's kit (Pixie-licious papers) to create a Birthday Card Book for my brother's girlfriend for christmas... she is always really good about sending cards, so i thought that this would be the perfect way for her to store her cards and keep tab of all her dates etc. I liked the book so much i think i need to make one for myself!

October Layout Reveal

This is a layout of me, my two lovely sisters (spot lou, far left) and my mummy on a cruise to the carribean (known in those oldie days as the west indies). I was too young for me to remember the holiday itself, but i love all the pictures. the stylish perm, lou's boyish haircut, my crazy curls... and let's not forget the terrible costume of me dressed up as little bo peep!

The lost and found papers were PERFECT for these pics! (apologies for the quality of the photo, it does not do the gorgeous papers (and their glitteryness) justice)

This month's kit is a mix and match of two of the different lost and found ranges so watch this space for some clues as to the second range xx

Last night we made baby cards using some of the Kars stamp packs (only £1.99!) and papers from Kaisercraft Little Miss and Little Man range - here are two that Carol was doing today - she came by the shop and spent the day here making cards.... the day has flown by and shutting up shop in about half an hour.

I have got the idea of organising another retreat into my head and I know from past experience that it will be at the back of my mind until I get something booked.... all I need to do is get Tara onside :D or else get myself organised to do classes myself - eeek! On the flip side, I am ready for my first kids class this Tuesday - we are going to make door hangers - heaven knows how it will go as my first customers are all about four years old - cue glitter, glue and lots of sequin messiness!

I had a little scrapping myself this afternoon on the shop counter - had to try out my supersharp new guillotine and had my eye on the umbrellas papers from My Minds Eye.... so I scrapped a photo from when Tara and I went to NYC for mum's 60th birthday with a family friend Jennifer - what a FAB weekend that was.... plus I had some lovely cherished memories ribbon which I think I have had lying around since our first retreat possibly.... I really must invest in some decent photography....

We had our first card making class on Thursday night and it was a great night - we only had two ladies for our first one but since it is the builder's fortnight here in N.Ireland when half the country is on holiday, I thought that was ok. Maria was great, very good teacher and Audrey and Carol seemed to really enjoy it! We already have two others booked in for next Thursday night as well so lets hope its a 'builder' lol.....

hi everyone - well we survived opening day - had a great day and finished it off nicelyl with some pink champagne on Sat night down at my sister in laws.... now I am settling into being a shopkeeper. Lovely meeting lots of new crafters and hearing all about the different things people are into. I am in dire need of a high stool behind the counter especially today as I am on a 11.5 hour shift - yikes! Haven't stood up for this long since I don't know when.... I have my first classes booked for next week and can't wait to get them underway. The difference between being online and being in a premises are quite a lot - people buy stuff because they like it, as opposed to it being the latest new thing - and I have time to do my updating and stock taking because my three bambinos are not distracting me! Saying that, I am looking forward to having my two ladies trained up and getting to mind my own children two afternoons a week.... I think we are all missing each other (thats Sarah, Daithi, Shay and me... not the ladies lol....)

...a minibook i created to enclose my pictures, plain ticket and diary extracts from the summer i au paired in France when i was only 17/18 ... i can't believe i kept all these things - definately born to be a scrapbooker :D There is another page hidden in the pack, but it is a letter from a friend and i think she would kill me if i put it on the blog ... lol!!!

I got some babysitting time from mum this morning and met Andrea for some stocking out - with the coffee of course you can see in the foreground! Lucky for me theres a fab coffee shop three doors away - the Coffee Bean Deli - and also lucky for croppees cos you can just get your cappuccino or latte and bring it along with you!

So far, got the gas turned on this week and a new phone number - plus a nice wrought iron table which Janice from Kars suggests I paint a nice duck egg blue - hmmm great idea! Big changes this weekend with my team of three putting up slat walls, building the counter and getting the craft tables built - things should look a lot different next Monday! All I have to do now is get prices on everything!!
